My favourite role within a development team is working on handdrawn game art.

 

I work with multidiscplinary teams and collaborate with technical team members to establish a cohesive style and design for the game that enhances the gameplay. I then work from this plan to create assets which I either implement myself in the engine or pass on to developers to use as they wish.

My favourite projects allow me to utilise colour and texture to create cosy visuals which create a safe place for players to explore and discover the game around them.

I'm currently combining my interests in UX design and visual design into the creation of icons and graphic design work.

 

I apply principles of good design such as symmetry, contrast, and use of space to create clear symbols which are recognisable to users whilst also creating a unique visual style. I have experience collaborating with clients and colleagues to design custom work to unique specifications as well as creating a backlog of commonly used icons which can be applicable to a variety of projects.

I particularly enjoy the challenge of trying to design weird and wacky UI elements which can instantly communicate unusual messages and meanings to users.

I'm also foraying into font creation, such as the custom font used on this website and detailed in my projects page.

My creative interests go beyond my degree in game development.

I've begun exploring the idea of monetising some of my work, mainly in the areas of embroidery, printing, and illustration. I have a large variety of personal projects I work on, but have also worked on commissioned pieces from friends and family to create artwork for particular specifications.
